HOLIDAZE

As we embark on what may be the craziest time of the year, let us keep in mind that the busier we get, the more we need to set aside time for our health and wellbeing. It is undeniably easy to defer goals to "the new year" but that sets us back physically and mentally. Furthermore, it makes starting back up all the more difficult. When we prioritize our established (or maybe not so established!) exercise routine, we still can do the shopping and attend the festivities and do so with a clearer head, fitter body, and higher metabolism and energy level. If we deplete ourselves by only running errands, giving our time away to others, and taking on more and more holiday tasks, we run the risk of burnout and illness. Now is not the time to skip workouts, throw nutrition goals out the window, or decide we don't have time for yoga/meditation/quiet rest. Allow yourself well-planned meals and snacks, intentional and consistent exercise, time outside in nature, time inside at rest, and then bring your best self forward to all that the holiday season brings. Holidays are not an excuse, they are a call to action - for every demand placed on you by someone else, give back to yourself one of the previously mentioned "gifts". Stay true to your wellbeing, let it be your compass throughout November and December. Once January rolls around, you will be free of guilt, shame, dread, achiness, stiffness, and added pounds if you keep practicing now what you have practiced all year long. Or, if you haven't been meeting your goals so far this year, just start now. Don't wait. Go into these final months committed and steadfast, but also with self-compassion, grace, and intentionality. One day, one meal, one workout, one night's sleep at a time.
